Celebrity "news"?

OK, I'm not big on so-called "news" about celebrities, since their world is a largely manufactured one that barely fits the definition of newsworthy, but what struck me about this story in the UK's Mirror was its obvious bias toward its own homegrown Russell Brand after the announcement of his impending divorce with the very American Katy Perry.

Some highlights:
Brand filed for divorce from Katy Perry because she refused to settle down and have his children..... The couple had a series of huge bust-ups over her partying and boozy lifestyle...... Comedian Russell, 36, has beaten booze and drugs addictions and wanted to shun the Hollywood clubbing scene and start a family with the Firework singer.....The I Kissed A Girl star thought she had called her husband’s bluff and he would come running back. But it was the final straw for Russell, who simply shrugged his shoulders and flew home to his mother Barbara.
Flew home to his mother Barbara? Please. And note the choice of songs they mention by Perry: "Firework," which I think may be her biggest hit, but "I Kissed a Girl"? Not nearly her biggest, but it fits the slant of the story.

The story continues in much the same vein, although it does later get around to acknowledging that Brand might be jealous of Perry's success. And while it's not a stretch to imagine Katy Perry as a partier, it's also hard to believe that the in-your-face Brand is really the good boy the story makes him out to be.

So, to be clear, this is not a commentary on the two stars involved, but rather on the obvious journalistic bias (which I don't think is too out of the norm for British newspapers). No, it has nothing to do with how hot Katy Perry is.
